Custom Scenarios are live!

One of the most anticipated features is finally here, and I’m really excited to announce it.

Now you have full freedom to create your own scenarios that match exactly what you want to practice, whenever you need it, and this is quite a big deal, you are only limited by your own imagination.

How does that work in practice? Think of any subject you wish to practice, such as introducing yourself to new people or shopping at a local market, then provide a title, description, and keywords you wish the scenario had included. Once submitted, a new card will appear under Custom scenarios, ready to go.

Try it out, simply go to the app and navigate to Menu → Scenarios → Custom → +.

You can build up to 100 custom scenarios, allowing you to keep a library of situations that matter to you.

Custom scenarios are perfect for practicing everyday chats, but as a beginner, I need to practice the basics like directions, color names, or days of the week. The good news is that custom scenarios are great for that too. You can design a conversation that focuses entirely on something like color names. It might sound a bit boring or unnatural, but it can be very effective for learning. Here are a few of my own scenarios for beginners to try:

  • Name: Four Seasons 🌞❄️🍁
Description: Talk about the four seasons and what they’re like.
    Keywords: spring, summer, autumn, winter
  • Name: Directions ⬅️⬆️🧭
Description: I’m looking for directions to the cinema, pub, and park.
    Keywords: right, left, straight, back
  • Name: Table Booking 🗓️🍽️🧑‍🍳
Description: Book a restaurant table for each day of the week.
Keywords: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

And as always, we want to make this feature even better, so feedback is very welcome. Tell us what you like, what feels confusing, what you wish to have, and what would make Custom Scenarios even more useful for your learning.

Thanks for helping shape what we build next.

Happy language learning.
